E-scooters at Tigis event near Taipei 101

E-scooter from Yamaha.

The mythic e-moving from 中華汽車, here in 3 colors.

... girls usually love this color.

This is the Green Baby, the e-scooter that I tried in January 2010, whose controller burned out during the test. The staff of its company (Green Diamond) explained me that they since modified the controller to resist the heat emitted by the engine when the drive climbs a mountain. They proposed me to try it again. Sure, I will !

On this picture, a lady is showing a device which regulates the electrical flow, it is smoothing the shape of the electric signal so that less  energy is wasted in heat (patent pending). The inventor told me that it can save up to 30% of energy.

There was also a lot of exhibitors for battery technologies. However, none of them presented anything with an energy density as high as the battery builders in UK.

The dbX & rust

Only after 2 weeks, I noticed some rust that I couldn't reach when I was cleaning up my dbX. I recently dismounted it at a garage, and observed more rust that what I was thinking. I purchased the tools and did the cleaning myself.

The front screw's diameter is 10, the back screw's diameter is 13. I paid 40NT$ for each tool.

Rust on the 4 screws that maintain the part that the second passenger hold, and rust inside the screw's holes.

This is after the cleaning. Most of the rust has been removed, but some remains.

This is the magic liquid against the rust. 100NT$ only. I wonder if the dbX's company could have done something to avoid the rust to develop so fast.

The 2 big metal cylinders that maintain the front wheel also started to get rusty. If you own a dbX, open your eyes and be ready to hunt down the rust at those locations.

Warning: don't spray the product on the wheels and its braking system.

Foot note : I saw a worst situation on a e-bike "Navajo" parked outside in Taipei, where the whole back wheel was covered by rust (and I was scared to go to see the front). I think the dbX could be better built, but the places where I found rust are relatively small compared to the one from Navajo. My dbX is still good looking, it is just that it needs some care every few weeks.

evFriend on Android Market

I developed and published an Android application which displays the places where to recharge the battery of electric motorcycles on Taipei.

The application is free and is intended to stay this way.

Radioactivity on 陽明山

A little close up ...

The radioactivity bump appeared during the night between October 2nd and October 3rd.

Those graphs are built using my own program, from real data collected from the website of Taiwan's Atomic Energy Council which voluntarily doesn't publish any precise graph of their data.

Brand new dbX, already had scratches :-(

There are no scratches at any other place. According to the position of the scratches, they were made by moving the dbX's piece on the ground before it was mounted. I don't see any other explanation.

I will soon publish a full about article about my first experience with the dbX now that I actually own one. Stay tuned.
